"Preparing Emerging Leaders and Entrepreneurs for

over 76 years"

LA-DECA-Stack-Blue.jpg

DECA is an academic, professional association of high school and college students with an interest in careers within the fields of marketing, finance, hospitality/tourism, culinary arts, fashion merchandising, retailing, and business management. DECA's purpose is to:

  • integrate into classroom instruction through authentic, experiential learning methods that prepare members for college and careers,

  • apply learning by having members put their knowledge into action through rigorous project-based activities that require creative solutions with practical outcomes.

  • connect to businesses to provide members realistic insight into industry and to promote meaningful, relevant learning.

  • promote competition which drives members to excel and improve their performance.

These purposes determine the character of our chapter activities.  Through these DECA prepares the next generation to be academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, and experienced leaders.

DECA is comprised of over 220,000 members in the U.S. and internationally.  Louisiana DECA currently accounts for over 1,200 of these members.

DECA is designated by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.

Congratulations to Warren Easton Charter High School DECA and their advisor, Dr. Nicole Ford for placing 2nd in the International DECA Annual Pumpkin Contest.  There were over 400 entries in this year’s contest.

This event is always a great time for DECA members and advisors to bond with their chapters, show off their creative talents and share their DECA spirit.  Competitive categories included DECA-iest Pumpkin, Funniest Pumpkin, Most Creative Pumpkin, and Spookiest Pumpkin.  Members voted and the top three winners in each category were announced.

‍Louisiana is so proud of the effort by Warren Easton Charter High School DECA members and their new advisor for an outstanding Cookie Monster Pumpkin creation in the Funniest Pumpkin category.
