DECA Scholarships
La. DECA offers 2 scholarships to DECA members. We plan to award two $500 scholarships with one going to a senior La. DECA member (who is not a state officer) and one going to a senior state officer. Click on the Teacher's tab above and then on the Classroom Activities tab on the left side to download the form. Due date is Feb. 15.

Teachers and Students can also apply for over $300,000 in DECA scholarships. Check the national DECA website at http://www.deca.org.

Membership Campaign
Get 10 new members by January 9 over your last year's total membership and your chapter receives $50 off of your CDC registration; get 15 new members, get $75 off, get 20 new members, get $100, and so on.

DECA Dues
If you were a member of DECA last year, your school name should already be listed under Louisiana. If you are a new chapter or a chapter that is re-activating, you will need to click on the link that asks if you are a new chapter advisor. Every chapter advisor will enroll and set up a username and password. You'll type all your information and the information of any additional advisors, your chapter members, your professional members, and your alumni members. Once finished, you can pay with a credit card, or you can print out an invoice and mail it in with your check ($16 is total for state and national dues--send all to national DECA). Dues should be sent in by November 1 to get the first issue of DECA Dimensions. To attend the La. State CDC, you must have your dues paid by January 30. DECA Outstanding Chapter Advisor
Shouldn't you be recognized for the great job you do with your DECA chapter? National DECA and Louisiana want to recognize outstanding chapter advisors with the "DECA Outstanding Chapter Advisor" award. Look over the list of activities and their point values by clicking on the Teacher link above, then by clicking on the name of the award. There may be other activities added to this list as they year progresses; however, the Goal # of points an advisor needs will not change. Awards will be give at the La. CDC in March. Get points by having students apply for DECA scholarships, joining LME (La. Marketing Educators), attending CDC and ICDC, having your chapter donate to the La. DECA Scholarship Fund or getting a business to donate, submitting the forms and obtaining one of the levels in the National DECA Membership Campaign, running a student for DECA state office, conducting an MDA activity, and many other ways...

State Chapter Award
All chapters can earn this award. Recognition for your entire chapter will take place at the La. DECA CDC. The guidelines will be given out at FCL and emailed to all chapter advisors. Your chapter officers should complete the forms and submit them to the state advisor by February 15 (postmarked). You, as the advisor, only need to initial in several spots to verify some of the activities. Let your chapter officers do the work for this one. The N.O. Hornets Sports Marketing Career Conference is Feb.18, 2009; the DECA night game is against the Orlando Magic. The La. DECA State CDC is March 1-3, 2009. ICDC will be held in Anaheim, CA from April 28-May 3, 2009.
